Pre Sales Engineer

Job Description
Ascom (US) Inc. is seeking a Senior Pre Sales Engineer to join our growing team. The Senior Pre Sales Engineer provides support to the sales team in selling and promoting Ascom products and services.
Support includes developing the expertise to effectively demonstrate our products and services to prospective and existing customers. This position also prepares technical details and engineering need for the quotation. The Pre Sales Engineer also works with marketing and the sales team to develop sales tools to assist our sales and resellers (where applicable) in learning and presenting the Ascom solution portfolio. Included in these activities are regular web-based seminars to resellers and customers. 

Main Tasks 
  • Incorporate quality and continuous improvement as part of overall job performance; adhering to Ascom’s Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Work closely with Sales Team and resellers to provide internal and external technical support and expert training during pre and post sales of products and solution packages
  • Provide documents for engineering and architectural firms to use for preparing specs that favour Ascom equipment
  • Interface at all levels within a customer’s organization and coordinate highly technical information, business proposals and emerging requirements
  • Provide analysis and preparation of quotations and proposals
  • Research to determine customer needs and develop application of product and services
  • Work closely with Sales Team to continuously increase the prospective pipeline
  • Provide entry level feedback to Product Manager of emerging customer requirements and new vertical markets
  • Gather, analyse, and share customer technical information and feedback
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments
  • Provide entry level remote and on-site support as needed working with Ascom Implementation

  • Drive systematic and continuous improvement of owned processes to maximize the Division performance and fulfilment of strategies, working cross-functionally with relevant functions
  • Ensure that customer complaints and non-conformities and improvement opportunities in the process are identified and addressed through established continuous improvement work
  • Support the company’s objectives as outlined in both vision and mission statements 
  • Recognize and achieve environmental requirements and goals
  • Conduct own work in compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and standards
  • Participate in environmental, health and safety training, including updates when so provided, and keep informed about current regulations and standards within own area of work
  • Duly report any observed or impending breaches of environmental, health and safety regulations and standards to responsible manager 

Accountabilities
  • The Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting the sales team in selling and promoting Ascom products and services.  Support includes developing the expertise to effectively demonstrate our products and services to prospective and existing customers.  This position also prepares technical details and engineering need for the quotation.  In addition, this position may also provide installation and/or implementation services as a back-up for Ascom’s Technical Services Team.   
  • The Pre-Sales Engineer also works with marketing and the sales team to develop sales tools to assist our sales and resellers (where applicable) in learning and presenting the Ascom solution portfolio.  Included in these activities are regular web-based seminars to resellers and customers.   
  • In addition, this position provides input and participates in the marketing, market planning, and technical development of products and services. 

Required Education & Skills
  • Associates degree or 1-5 years Ascom product experience or 1-3 years’ experience working with IT, telecom or wireless technology (DECT or 802.11)
  • 1-5 years of experience in a customer support role utilizing phone, e-mail and web-based systems
  • 1-5 year of experience with server hardware and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
  • 1-5 year of experience with telecommunications systems (Cisco, Avaya, etc.)
  • 1-5 year of experience with networking equipment
  • Analytical and solution-oriented.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Good communication and social skills.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Recommended Certifications: Entry level wireless certifications (e.g. CWNA) and/or Entry level networking certifications (e.g. CCNA).
  • Training: Sales Engineer I must successfully complete all Ascom product certifications within the first 9 months in the position.
