Description
The Importance of Transportation to Community Development
Transportation infrastructure is the backbone of any community. Transportation projects can have various impacts on a community’s economic development objectives, such as productivity, employment, business activity, property values, investment and tax revenues. In general, transportation projects that improve overall accessibility and reduce vehicle dependency tend to increase economic productivity and development and ultimately create places where people want to live, work and play.
With a residential population now well above 24,000 and an additional 10,000+ for daytime population, transportation is a key area of focus for the Town of Morrisville.
Join us to hear from Benjamin Howell, Long Range Planning Manager with the Town of Morrisville for a presentation focused on short and long-term transportation initiatives in Morrisville. Topics for discussion include:
- Comprehensive Transportation Plan update
- Town-funded road and sidewalk projects currently planned or under construction
- NCDOT-funded road and sidewalk projects in Town (from State Transportation Improvement Program)
- Wake Transit planning and implementation
