Description
Many things make a difference in quality of life and for Morrisville and Western Wake County, mobility is the top of the list. Transit is an alternative that Wake County has time and again discussed. Where is the latest transit plan? What is new in it? When can we expect something to happen? What can we do? The Morrisville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to feature transit as one of the 2014 Issues Forums. CEO and General Manager David King and General Counsel Deborah Ross will provide the update.
David King was named CEO and General Manager of Triangle Transit in 2006. He helps direct the activities of 200 employees which provide regional bus, vanpool and paratransit service to Durham, Orange, Wake and surrounding counties. Before joining the agency, King worked for 33 years at the N.C. Department of Transportation, most recently as its Deputy Secretary, responsible for the department’s five multimodal divisions, including the Public Transportation Division and the Rail Division. He is a former Board Chair of Reconnecting America, an organization working to redefine national policies on intercity travel for a convenient, secure, financially viable and sustainable network. He also serves as a board member of the N.C. State Employees Credit Union. King holds a B.A. degree in Economics from Davidson College and an M.B.A. degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Deborah Ross is General Counsel for Triangle Transit, joining the agency in June 2013. Prior to her selection by the Board of Trustees, Ross served more than 10 years in the N.C. House and has practiced law in North Carolina for more than 20 years. In her role as chief counsel, Ross provides legal support to the Board of Trustees and staff of Triangle Transit, ensuring agency compliance with the law, overseeing and managing contracts, property and other legal matters. She holds a B.A. degree from Brown University, a law degree from the UNC School of Law and has been a Senior Lecturing Fellow at the Duke Law School.
