Description
Dispelling Stereotypes: Millennials in the Workforce
Lazy, narcissistic, entitled. Civic-minded, innovative, collaborative. These are all stereotypes, both positive and negative, of a generational demographic cohort of our workforce? Millennials. With this generation making up an estimated 75% of the workforce by 2030, millennials will quickly be dispersed throughout a company from the ground floor to the c-suite. So how do you manage, mentor, or work for this growing workforce?
Join us to hear from a panel made up entirely of millennials as they discuss what they value in the workplace, their point of view of a cross-generational workforce, what they need to be successful and more. Panelists include:
- Rachel Fleming, PE, CMIT, Lead Engineer, MBP
- Hannah Hannawi, Assistant Vice President, Senior Business Analyst, Credit Suisse
- Jessica Mitsch, Co-Founder and CEO, Momentum
- Nicole Rogers, Community Relations Specialist Associate, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina
- Laney Tipton Willis, Digital Project Manager, Capitol Broadcasting Company
Nonprofit Highlight: Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines
During the event we will be collecting items to donate to Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines a nonprofit that builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girls are able to lead their own adventure and team up with other girls in an all-girl environment to choose exciting hands-on activites through the Gilf Scout Leadership Experience. The foundation of this expereince includes the girls gaining important skills in the following four areas: STEM, outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship.
Several Girl Scout troops are involved in service projects to collect items for local fire departments to help displaced families due to home loss resutling from fire. The following are suggested items to donate for this project:
